Coleford town in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire has twinned with a town in the Vendee region of France called St Hilaire de Riez.


The Chair of the Coleford Twinning Association is Iain Baird. The President of the St Hilaire twinning association, called the Echanges Franco Britanniques, is Damien Guibert.

The two twinning associations are keen to involve as many members of the two communities as possible. This includes schools, youth clubs, sports clubs, music and arts groups, families and, of course, local businesses. Up and coming events:

July. On 14th July we welcome two members of the St Hilaire twinning group to Coleford. They successfuly bid for a week's holiday, during a fund raising event in St Hilaire.

On 24th July we will enjoy a visit by a group of 20 youngsters from the youth club in St Hilaire. They will be staying for five days. A number of events have been planned to take place durign their stay.

August. In the first week of August a group of Twinning Association members will be travelling by coach to St Hilaire, where many will be hosted by members of the St Hilaire twinning group. During the stay the visitors will be attending performances at a three day Arts Festival that is held in St Hiaire each August.

Successful visit by Berry Hill U-16 rugby team to St Hilaire

Berry Hill U-16 rugby team travelled to St Hilaire at Easter to play a friendly match with their St Hilaire counterparts. The trip was a great success and the Berry Hill group were overwhlemed by the hospitality that they received.

The team won 61 - 17, however the score was less important than the friendships been forged.

Five Acres High School welcome 54 students from their twinned college in St Hilaire, College Pierre Garcie Ferrande. Students from both schools were able to mix and try out their new language skills.
