A coach full of visitors from St Hilaire de Riez visited Coleford between the 11th and 15th April. The coach contained an U15 rugby team from the St Hilaire de Riez Rugby Club, as well as many members of the EFB, the twinning association in St Hilaire de Riez.

This picture shows members of the EFB admiring the twinning sign at one of the entrance roads to Coleford.

As well as playing an international match with the team from Berry HIll Rugby Club the youngsters also took part in many activities, including a trip down the River Wye. They were joined by Nick Penny, Coleford's mayor, who foolishly agreed to spend time on the river. He emerged much wetter than he was when he climbed into his canoe!

A presentation and exchange of framed shirts from both rugby clubs, to hep cement the international partnership.

On a very cold afternoon two petanque teams battle it out on the pitch at the Angus Buchanan Bowling Club ground. After a valiant effort by the Coleford team the honours went to the St Hilaire de Riez team.

5Acres visit (800x536)

Five Acres High School welcomed a visit by 50 students from their twinned college, College Garcie Ferrande, in March. The students from each school spent time talking to each other and practising their French and English conversation.

Later in the day the visitors found out more about the Forest of Dean at the Dean Heritage Centre and were also able to visit the centre of Coleford.

It is hoped that a group from Five Acres High School will be able to visit St Hilaire de Riez in the future.
